To download TikTok videos on iPhone, copy the video link in the TikTok app, open the Video page of ssstiktok.live in Safari, paste the link and tap Analyze video, then Download the full video. Safari saves the MP4 to the Files app. From there, tap Share > Save Video to add it to Photos. No app, no shortcut, nothing to install.
Here’s each step in detail, with the iPhone-specific parts that trip people up: where Safari puts downloads, how to get the video into your camera roll, and how to open ZIP files.
Before you start
- An iPhone or iPad with Safari (or another browser such as Chrome).
- The TikTok app, or TikTok open in your browser, to copy the link.
- A public TikTok video that you have the right to save for personal use.
Download TikTok videos on iPhone: step by step
1. Copy the TikTok link
In the TikTok app, open the video, tap the Share arrow on the right, then tap Copy link. The link is now on your clipboard.
2. Open ssstiktok.live in Safari
Open Safari and go to the Video page. Tap the field, then tap Paste. You can also use the field on the home page, which detects the link type for you.
3. Tap “Analyze video”
The video opens in the editor. You’ll see the player and a countdown for how long the file stays on the server.
4. Tap “Download the full video”
Safari may ask whether you want to download the file. Tap Download. A download icon appears in Safari while the file is saving. Tap it to see your downloads.
5. Save the video to Photos
- Open the Files app.
- Go to Downloads (under On My iPhone or iCloud Drive, depending on your settings).
- Tap the video to open it.
- Tap the Share button, then Save Video.
The video now appears in the Photos app with your other videos.
Only need part of the video?
Before you download, you can trim it. Drag the handles on the timeline, or play the video and tap Start and End, then tap + Add clip. Choose MP4 or MP3 and tap Export. Our guide to trimming TikTok videos goes into detail.
To keep only the sound, choose MP3. The audio file lands in Files > Downloads and plays right there. See TikTok to MP3.
Opening a ZIP file on iPhone
If you export several clips with Bundle in a ZIP checked, you get a single ZIP file. On iPhone:
- Open Files > Downloads.
- Tap the ZIP file. Files extracts it into a folder next to it.
- Open the folder, then save each clip to Photos with Share > Save Video.
Prefer separate files? Uncheck Bundle in a ZIP before exporting.
Changing where Safari saves downloads
Safari’s download location is set in the Settings app, in Safari’s settings, under Downloads. You can choose iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or another folder. If you can’t find a video, check both locations in the Files app.
Sharing the video once it’s saved
Once the MP4 is in Photos, it behaves like any video you shot yourself. You can send it in Messages, AirDrop it to a Mac, or trim it further in the Photos app. If you only want to send it once, you don’t even need Photos: in the Files app, tap the video, then the Share button, and pick the app you want.
Files stay in Downloads until you delete them, so clean up that folder from time to time. Videos saved to Photos are copies, and deleting the original in Files won’t remove them.
Downloading on iPad
Everything above works the same on iPad. The larger screen makes the editor easier to use, and if you have a keyboard attached, you can press I and O to set the start and end of a clip.
Tips for iPhone users
- Download while the countdown runs. The file stays on the server for 10 minutes after it’s ready, then it’s deleted. Keeping the editor open extends that window, up to 30 minutes after processing.
- Stay on the page during the download. If you switch apps, the download may pause or fail, and downloads can’t resume. If that happens, tap Download the full video again while the countdown is still going.
- Use Chrome if you prefer. The steps are the same. Chrome shows its own download prompt and lets you open or save the file in Files.
- Record lives too. The same site can record a TikTok live from Safari. Keep the screen awake while it records.
Common problems on iPhone
Nothing happens when I tap Download. Look for Safari’s download prompt at the top or bottom of the screen and tap Download. If you have content blockers, try again with them off for this site.
I can’t find the video in Photos. Safari doesn’t save to Photos directly. The file is in Files > Downloads. Use Share > Save Video to move it.
“This isn’t a valid TikTok link.” Make sure you pasted the link, not the caption. It should start with https:// and point to tiktok.com, vm.tiktok.com or vt.tiktok.com.
“This content isn’t available (private, deleted or restricted).” The video isn’t public. ssstiktok.live can’t download private or removed videos.
“Too many requests in a short time.” Wait a few minutes and try again.
“The file has expired and was deleted from the server.” More than 10 minutes passed, or the download already finished. Paste the link again.
“Daily limit reached. Come back tomorrow.” The site is free, with no sign-up, but a daily anti-abuse limit applies. Try again the next day.
