When trimming a TikTok makes sense

How to trim TikTok video clips, step by step
1. Open the video in the editor
Copy the TikTok link (Share > Copy link in the app, or the address bar on a computer). Paste it on the Video page and tap Analyze video. The editor opens with a 9:16 player and a timeline underneath.
2. Set the start and end
The timeline starts with a short selection at the beginning of the video. Adjust it in whichever way suits you:
- Drag the handles. The handles are large enough to grab with a finger on a phone.
- Play and mark. Play the video, pause where you want the clip to begin and tap Start, then do the same for End.
- Use the keyboard. On a computer, press I to set the start and O to set the end. The arrow keys move a selected handle in small steps, Shift + arrows in bigger ones, and Page Up / Page Down in larger jumps.
3. Add the clip
Tap + Add clip. The clip appears in the list below the timeline. To grab another moment, move the handles and add again. Each clip can be removed from the list if you change your mind.
4. Pick the format
Under Output format, choose:
- MP4 to keep video and sound;

5. Choose Precise or Fast
Under Cut mode:

In Fast mode the start of your clip may move a little, sometimes by a second or more, because TikTok videos only have a keyframe every few seconds. In MP3, the mode makes no difference.
6. Export and download
With several clips, leave Bundle in a ZIP checked to get one ZIP file, or uncheck it for separate files. Tap Export. The download starts automatically once your clips are ready.
Tips for tighter clips
- Start slightly early. Setting your Start half a second before the action gives the clip room to breathe.
- Use Precise for dialogue. Cutting mid-word sounds bad. Precise mode avoids that.
- Preview each clip. Tap a clip in the list to jump to its start and check it before exporting.
- Export everything in one go. Add all your clips first, then export once. You get a single ZIP and it’s easier to keep track.
- Stay in the editor while you work. The source video stays available while the editor is open, up to 30 minutes after processing. If you leave, it’s deleted 10 minutes after it was ready.
Phone or computer?
Both work, and the steps are identical. On a phone, the timeline handles are sized for your finger, and playing the video then tapping Start and End is often quicker than dragging. On a computer, the I and O keys make it fast to mark many clips in a row, which helps with long videos. Trimming a TikTok live
The same editor works for lives. After you record a TikTok live, tap Cut on the recording screen (or Stop and cut while it’s still running). Long recordings are where clipping saves the most time. Creators can find a full workflow in turning a TikTok live into short clips.
Common problems
“Clip too short.” Clips need a minimum length. Move the End handle a bit further from the Start.
“This clip is already in the list.” You added the same start and end twice. Move a handle and try again.
“Photo posts can’t be cut.” Slideshows and photo posts aren’t supported. Only video posts can be trimmed.
My clip starts a bit earlier or later than I set. You’re in Fast mode, which snaps to the nearest keyframe. Switch to Precise and export again.
“The source will be deleted in less than a minute. Export now.” The countdown is almost over. Export right away, or paste the link again later to start fresh.
“This content isn’t available (private, deleted or restricted).” The video isn’t public or was removed. ssstiktok.live only works with public videos.
“Too many requests in a short time.” Wait a few minutes before retrying.
Keep it fair
ssstiktok.live is not affiliated with TikTok. Trimming someone else’s video doesn’t make it yours. Keep clips for personal use, or get the creator’s permission before you share them.
