How to Record TikTok Live Streams and Save Them as MP4

To record TikTok live streams, copy the live link (it looks like tiktok.com/@username/live), paste it on the Live page of ssstiktok.live and tap Start recording. Keep the page open. When the live ends, or when you stop it, the recording is turned into an MP4 file that downloads automatically. It works in your browser on phone or computer, with nothing to install.

TikTok lives vanish the moment the stream ends unless the creator saves a replay. If you want to keep your own stream, rewatch a Q&A, or cut highlights later, recording it as it happens is the reliable option. This guide shows how, and what to do when something goes wrong.

What you need to record a TikTok live

• A live that is on air right now. ssstiktok.live records from the moment you start. It can’t go back in time or fetch a live that has already ended.
• The live link or the creator’s profile link. Both tiktok.com/@username/live and tiktok.com/@username work, as do short vm.tiktok.com links that lead to them.
• A browser tab you can leave open. The recording runs on our server, but the page must stay open until the file downloads: closing it loses the file.
• The right to keep the stream. Your own lives, or lives you have permission to record.

How to record TikTok live streams in 5 steps

1. Find the live link

In the TikTok app, open the live, tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, open the live on tiktok.com and copy the address from the address bar. If you can’t find the share option, copy the creator’s profile link instead: ssstiktok.live will find the live from it.

2. Paste it on the Live page

Go to the Live page and paste the link. You can also use the single field on the home page, which detects that it’s a live and sends you to the right place.

3. Tap “Start recording”

ssstiktok.live checks that the creator is on air, then starts recording. You’ll see a preview of the stream, the recorded time and the file size, updated as it goes.

4. Keep the page open

This is the important part. The message on screen says it plainly: “The live is recording. Keep this page open.” Closing the tab means losing the file. On a phone, keep the browser in the foreground and your screen awake.

5. Get your MP4

The recording stops on its own when the live ends, when it reaches the 2-hour limit, or when you tap Stop and cut. The file is assembled, then the download starts automatically. If it doesn’t start, tap Download. You then have 10 minutes to download or cut the file before it’s deleted from the server.

Record a live from a creator’s profile

If you follow a creator and want to catch them when they go live, open their profile on the Profile page. When the creator is streaming, a Live badge appears with a Record this live button. Cut the best moments after the stream

A two-hour live often has ten minutes worth keeping. Once the recording is ready, tap Cut to open it in the editor:

1. Set a Start and an End on the timeline (or press I and O on a keyboard).
2. Tap + Add clip and repeat for each highlight.
3. Choose MP4 or MP3, and Precise or Fast cut mode.
4. Keep Bundle in a ZIP checked to get everything in one file.
5. Tap Export.

Cutting a recording you already have doesn’t use another operation. And as long as the editor stays open, the source file’s deletion is pushed back, up to 30 minutes after the recording was processed. Keep the page open on a phone or computer

The recording is tied to the open page: it’s the page that receives the finished MP4. A few habits keep it safe until the end:

• Keep the screen awake. On a phone, raise the auto-lock delay for the duration of the live, or keep the screen on while charging.
• Stay in the foreground. Switching apps for a long time can let the system pause the browser. Watch the live in the TikTok app on another device if you can.
• Plug in. A two-hour live drains a battery. Charge your phone or laptop while you record.
• Use a stable connection. Wi-Fi is safer than a weak mobile signal for the final download, which can be large.
• Don’t close or reload the tab. On a computer, pin the tab or keep it in its own window so you don’t close it by mistake.

Tips for a clean recording

• Start early. Recording only captures what happens after you tap Start recording. If the creator is about to go live, keep the link ready and start as soon as the stream is on.
• Watch the preview. If the preview stalls, recording usually continues on the server. The message “Preview unavailable. Recording continues.” means exactly that.
• Mind the 2-hour cap. For very long streams, the file stops at 2 hours. The file still contains everything recorded up to that point.
• Download before you do anything else. Once the file is ready, the 10-minute countdown starts. Download first, cut second.
• Check your storage. An hour of live video can take a lot of space. The size is shown during recording, so you’ll know what to expect.

Common problems when recording a TikTok live

“This account isn’t live right now.” The creator isn’t streaming, or the live just ended. Nothing is recorded and no operation is used. You can open their profile in the meantime and try again when they go live.

“Too many recordings in progress. Try again in a few minutes.” The server has a limited number of recording slots, and you can only record one live at a time from the same network. Wait a moment, or finish your current recording first.

“TikTok is blocking access to this content from our server.” TikTok is temporarily limiting requests. This isn’t the same as “not live”: wait a few minutes and try again.

“This content isn’t available (private, deleted or restricted).” Some lives are restricted and can’t be recorded. ssstiktok.live only works with public content.

The recording stopped early. Either the live ended, the 2-hour limit was reached, or a technical issue interrupted it. In the last case, a message tells you, and the file contains everything captured up to that point.

“The file has expired and was deleted from the server.” More than 10 minutes passed after the file was ready (or longer if the editor stayed open), or the download already completed. Recordings can’t be recovered once deleted, so download promptly.

“Daily limit reached. Come back tomorrow.” The site is free for everyone, with a daily anti-abuse limit. Once it’s reached, you can record again the next day.
